approach. The student will be taught advanced skills of analytical
thought processes and thus be enabled to analyze a particular clinical
symptom in its relationship to other presenting symptoms with the
primary focus to reach a form of differential assessment and/or
final assessment. Various symptoms from all body systems will be
addressed.

The materia medica and therapeutics are taught in conjunction with
each other by following the body systems. Systems include Cardiovascular,
Respiratory, Urinary, Gastro-intestinal, Nervous etc.
Therapeutics

These courses will involve practical discussions and case analysis
with group studies on commonly presenting pathological conditions
and focus on issues of formulations, safety and contraindications
etc.
Nutrition

This course will explore the composition of the things we eat and
drink —the essential elements we need to maintain and replenish
our selves at cellular levels. These will include carbohydrates;
protein, lipids, vitamins and minerals, water and phytochemical
diets. Fasting and cleansing programs will also be discussed. This
course examines the role nutrition and supplementation play as therapeutic
tools. The application of nutritional substances, fasting and dietary
alterations will be explored for health concerns in each of the
body’s systems. Pediatric and geriatric nutrition will also be discussed.
Abnormal
Psychology
In professional life the herbalist will encounter patients who exhibit
psychiatric conditions. This course outlines the major classifications
of psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, and the orthodox
treatment programmes currently in use. The last semester of Year

a whole by inviting practitioners from various complementary health
disciplines to inform you of their scope of practice. The specialties
covered will include pediatrics, gynecology, geriatrics, practice
management ethics, association information, allopathic pharmacology,
oncology, midwifery, stress management, marketing, dermatology,
