Pathology
1
This course gives an introduction to basic pathology and will concentrate
on general mechanisms of disease and the concept of symptomatology,
pathogenesis, and clinical features. The primary focus will be to
cover pathologies commonly seen by natural health care professionals.

These modules will primarily emphasize on clinical pathology. Various
pathologies in various body systems will be taught. It will cover
Cardiovascular, Respiratory, Gastrointestinal, Musculo-skeletal,
Renal, Nervous, Skin, Gynecological etc.
Clinical
Assessment 1
In this course the student will develop the art and skills of case
history taking, communication skills, using medical equipment, report
writing, the general approach to performing physical examinations
and interpretation of diagnostic tests. This will give the student
a concise understanding of taking clinical herbal consultations.
Clinical
Assessment 2
This course involves detailed theoretical and practical skill in
the interpretation of physical examinations in relationship to common
pathologies.
Differential
Assessment 1 and 2
These courses will offer a symptomatic rather than disease—orientated
approach. The student will be taught the skills of analytical thought
processes and thus be enabled to analyze a particular clinical symptom
in its relationship to other presenting symptoms with the primary
focus to reach a form of differential assessment and/or final assessment.
Various symptoms from all body systems will be addressed.
Materia
Medica 1
The materia medica will incorporate full monographs of the most
commonly used medicine herbs. The information will include actions,
constituents, medicinal uses, pharmacology, pharmacy and contraindications
to each herb as well as information on the harvesting and preparation
of herbs.

2
The materia medica and therapeutics are taught in conjunction with
each other by following the body systems. Systems include Cardiovascular,
Respiratory, Urinary, Gastro-intestinal, Nervous etc.
Therapeutics
1
The therapeutics section of the course will include both a philosophical
and practical elements of commonly occurring conditions. The students
will be taught to use herbs covered in the materia medica section
of the course. Diet and lifestyle approaches are incorporated to
enable the student to build a sound approach to the individuality
of each person and their state of health.
Therapeutics
2
This course will involve practical discussions and case analysis
with group studies on commonly presenting pathological conditions
and focus on issues of formulations, safety and contraindications.
Nutrition
I and 2
These courses will explore the composition of the things we eat
and drink—the essential elements we need to maintain and replenish
ourselves at cellular levels. These will include carbohydrates;
protein, lipids, vitamins and minerals as well as water and phytochemical
diets. Fasting and cleansing programs will also be discussed. This
course also examines the role nutrition and supplementation play
as therapeutic tools. The application of nutritional substances,
fasting and dietary alterations will be explored for health concerns
in each of the body’s systems. Pediatric and geriatric nutrition
will also be discussed.
Clinical
skills level 2 - lab
Students are taught advanced skills of clinic management, which
involves more indepth patient record keeping, filing, inventory
control, latin and medical terminology, appropriate to clinic.
Psychology
1
This extensive course explores the theories and roots of modern
psychology. The student will explore the links between thought,
feeling, function and structure in the human body, the keys to truly
understanding the human experience in health and sickness, and the
foundations of practice. Also explored is the process of forming
therapeutic relationships with patients and the scope of the work
of the herbalist.
Psychology
2
Patient Counseling This course explores the role of the practitioner
as guide and the agenda of both practitioner and client. The course
highlights the needs of patients for meaning and personal exploration
and offers the practitioner skills in supporting this.
Horticulture
and Gardening 2
Growing herbs is both a pleasure and for some, a business. This
course is an advanced look at the principles of horticulture in
relation to herb growing. Topics addressed include soil types and
suitability, organic growing principles and anthroposophical sciences,
growing from seed, cultivation and harvesting.
Clinical
Pharmacy
This course is designed to familiarize students with using applications
such as poultices, packs, plasters, compresses and other herbal
preparations.
