The Specially
Structured Diploma Program (SS) for Health Care Professionals at
the Physician Level is taken directly from the Clinical Herbal Therapy
Diploma ( 4 year distance learning) Program. The course provides
a comprehensive system of training, which includes a study of the
principles and philosophy of clinical herbal therapy, the definitions,
constituents and pharmacology of medicinal plants
ABOUT THE
PROGRAM:
The duration of the Specially Structured Program should be completed
within two years. This course is divided into four sections called
modules with assignments.
- Modules 1,2
and 3 to be completed within the SS first year and module 4 to be
completed at the beginning of the SS second year.
- Mandatory
attendance at one week pre-examination seminar in Vancouver, B.C.
during SS second year
- Completion
of 150 hours of clinical herbal training at Dominion Herbal College
Herbal Training Clinics including clinic profile requirements during
SS second year.
- Written examinations
will cover Pharmacology, Materia Medica and Therapeutics (including
applied Pharmacy) during SS second year
- Practical
Clinical Examination to be held in Vancouver, B.C. at end of SS
second year.
- A diploma
will be issued upon completion of academic, clinical and financial
requirements to the College.
AIMS OF
THE SPECIALLY STRUCTURED PROGRAM:
- To provide a comprehensive training in Herbal Medicine
including an analysis of the principles and philosophy of Medical
Herbalism.
- Understand the role that correct nutrition and lifestyle plays
in the maintenance
of good health
- Be competent in the assessment and treatment of common disease
state by phytotherapeutic and complementary means. Have an understanding
of the integration of natural therapies.
ENTRANCE
REQUIREMENTS:
Health Care Professional at a Physician Level are requested to forward
completed application form with necessary documents including verification
of their Physician Level Education

OPPORTUNITIES:
As we approach the year 2000 there is a study increase in the public's
interest in, and demand for natural healing. Herbalism in particular
is enjoying a great resurgence in popularity. The special aim of
the Clinical Herbal Therapy Diploma Program is to train individuals
to be competent and effective in using herbal medicine as a complementary
practice. There are many other opportunities in this field as well:
teacher, researcher, writer, and consultant to the industry and
community resource person.
